Membership Policies and FAQ

 

Membership Rights and Responsibilities 
The YMCA of South Palm Beach County does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, or any other basis prohibited by statue. The Y  has the authority to deny or revoke membership privileges if the member abuses or misuses any YMCA owned or operated equipment or facilities; engages in conduct which is abusive, illegal, and disruptive, or poses a threat to the safety of others; engages in activities contrary to the mission and purpose of the YMCA.

 

Can I try the Y first? 
If you are not a Y Member, you are welcome to try out Y for two days for free! If you are a current member and would like to bring a guest, you are able to bring two guests, one visit each, per year. Please let your guest know they need to bring photo identification such as a driver’s license and sign a liability waiver. If your guest is under 18, a parent or legal guardian will need to sign the liability waiver.

 

What is included in a Y Membership?
As a Member, you can use all the facilities and participate in many of the programs offered – as often as you want! Free childcare is available to parents as they enjoy their work out too. In some circumstances, there may be additional fees for instructional programs, such as swim lessons, specialty group exercise classes, and our youth sports program.

 

Membership Types
YMCA fees vary depending on the category of membership right for you. Membership categories include:

  1. Family Membership (one or two adults and all dependents)
  2. Adult Membership (18 years and older)
  3. Youth Membership (11-17 years old)
  4. Senior Membership (65 and older)

There is no contract when joining our Y. However, if you would like to cancel your membership, you must fill out a cancellation form at the Front Desk 30 days prior to the 1st of the month. If you would like to put your account on hold, you are given a complimentary 30-day hold after filling out a hold form at the Front Desk. 

 

Hold and Cancellation Policies
The YMCA of South Palm Beach County requires members to fill out a cancellation policy form at the Front Desk of their local branch 30 days prior to the 1st of the month. For holds, members are allotted one 3-month complimentary hold for medical purposes, and one 6 month hold for dual residency. Appropriate documentation from physician and proof of residency is required. 

 

Financial Aid & Community Discounts
Through the generosity of donors, the Y does have a financial assistance program. All Y members receive the same membership benefits, regardless of whether or not they are receiving financial assistance and your application is processed confidentially. Please speak to a Membership Representative at your local Y for more information.

The Y offers special discounts and rates for First Responders, Teachers, Bethesda Employees. For more information, please contact your local branch. 

 

Using Other YMCA's
When you are a member of a YMCA of South Palm Beach County, your membership is applicable at both our Boca and Boynton Y locations. In addition, with Nationwide Y Membership, members can visit any participating Y in the U.S. and Puerto Rico through membership at their home Y, at no additional cost. All Nationwide Y Members have access to the Wellness center, group exercise classes, aquatic facilities and the gymnasium. Some restrictions apply. Sex Offender Screenings
The security and safety of our members and those we serve is our number one priority. It is, for this reason, the YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation and remove visitation access.
