SUPPORTING VITAL PROGRAMS FOR PARKINSON’S DISEASE

The Simmons family has a four-generation connection to the Peter Blum YMCA in Boca Raton, now continued by 18-month-old Cameron. His great grandfather helped establish the Y decades ago, and today Cameron is beginning preschool there.

In 2024, Hank Jackson became Chief Volunteer Officer of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, succeeding Jackie Reeves. Inspired by his children’s involvement, he values the Y’s strong community impact and diverse programs. As CVO, he aims to address growing needs like childcare and mental health while ensuring the Y’s future. He also highlights that volunteering benefits both the community and the volunteer.

The YMCA of South Palm Beach County’s Adaptive Swim Instruction program ensures that children of all abilities can learn essential water safety skills. By tailoring lessons to each child’s unique needs, the program helps build confidence, comfort, and independence in the water. For families like Gregor’s, the experience has been transformative—turning fear into enthusiasm while promoting safety, skill development, and a lifelong love of swimming.
