LIVESTRONG at the YMCA empowers cancer survivors to improve and increase their quality of life.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is an evidence-based program based on best practices for cancer survivor exercise. The goals of the program are to empower adult cancer survivors to improve functional capacity and to increase their quality of life through an organized program of fitness and strength offered in a supportive, small-group setting.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the whole person - not the disease. This 12-week program meets twice a week for 90 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease back into fitness and help participants maintain a healthy weight. Participants will focus on:
- building muscle mass and strength
- increasing flexibility and endurance
- improving confidence and self-esteem
Just as important, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA encourages a warm spirit of community - a safe, comfortable place to build companionship with others affected by cancer and share stories and inspiration.
